Vision Sunday

Onward: Dreaming with God

At Vision Sunday we met for the entire Sunday morning service in the Life Center, sharing worship together, lunch, reviewing the Annual Report and dreaming with God as we see what Engage 2024 may look like at First Alliance Church.

For the dreaming vision board session we asked the question “what brings you joy” in the areas of Worship, Fellowship and Outreach.
Being as it was also Superbowl Sunday, there were football jerseys and delicious desserts celebrated by all who attended.

Enjoy a few photos from the morning!

Here are some follow up comments from Pastor Ricardo (also in the weekly digital newsletter).

“The last couple of weeks we have been talking about being a church on the move, transitioning from stagnation to effective thriving. We talked about the following points two weeks ago. We desire to be a church who is:

- United in Identity - without a solid identity, our ability to fulfill our calling/purpose becomes impossible,

- Pursuit in Holiness - authentic faith propels us toward a pursuit of holiness, not perfection, and

- United in Ministry - a church‘s engagement in ministry provides opportunities to serve God. Unity is crucial for our collective impact.

As we gather together last Sunday, it was such a joy to dream with you. It was so encouraging to see the involvement and participation of our local expression. It was great to seek God‘s vision rather than projecting our desires onto the church. Proverbs 29:18, reminds us that where there‘s no vision [or, clarity of purpose], people perish [or, cast off restraint].

We mentioned the Matthew Emmons example, getting the bullseye on the wrong target. The key is aligning our vision with God’s purpose. Here are our three targets as we ENGAGE in 2024.

  • Worship Must Matter - worship is more than just music, it is our heart’s response to the revelation of who God is.

  • Fellowship Must Matter - Fellowship moves us from individuality to a collective community that cares, loves, protects, challenges and encourages.

  • Outreach Must be Important - Outreach is the intentional and demonstrative act of making Jesus visible and known to those far from Jesus.

Engaging in corporate prayer, means that we express a collective desire to align with God’s dream for our church in worship, fellowship and outreach.

As we journey together into “ENGAGE 2024,” let’s be intentional about where we end up. Our aim is to be a church that goes somewhere on purpose, following Christ’s example in worship, love and service.
May God lead us, correct us, and give us His dreams and desires as we engage in His work.”
