Dr. Rev. Joel Smith
Joel Smith is our Transitional Pastor, he began May 1, 2022 after previous Lead Pastor, John Stoeckle, resigned in good standing as the Lord led he and his wife Lila on to other life and ministry opportunities.
Introduction of Joel A. Smith, Transitional Pastor:
Joel was born in Lewistown, PA. He’s the youngest of 5 children. His family was significantly engaged in the Lewistown Alliance Church where both of his parents were members and vibrant volunteers. Lewistown Alliance Church was born out of a prayer meeting that began in the home of John Koontz, Joel’s grandfather. During Joel’s early 20’s he experienced a significant encounter with God that took him from being a wayward wonderer to a whole-hearted worshiper. At that time, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord and began to develop as a disciple of Jesus Christ. During this period, Joel sensed a call to pastoral ministry. He’s received a degree in Communications from Messiah University, a Masters of Divinity Degree from Alliance Theological Seminary (ATS), and in 2016 he received a Doctorate in Ministry in Church Leadership in Global Context from ATS. Joel served as an Associate Pastor for his first four year of ministry at Immanuel Alliance Church in Mechanicsburg, PA and then went on to plant two churches with the Alliance – New Life Fellowship in Saratoga Springs, NY and Daybreak Church in Mechanicsburg, PA. After nearly 30 years of pastoral ministry, Joel founded Dalah Coaching, a ministry devoted to helping leaders navigate change. Joel serves as Lead Coach for Church Health with Metro Alliance and provides Transitional Pastoral ministry to churches. He’s also the Dean of EquippingU Max and he equipping initiative that coaches and networks Alliance pastors nationwide. Joel’s married to his wife Debbie. Debbie was born and raised in the North Fork of Eastern Long Island. They’ve been married for 35 years and raised three children, Joshua, Hannah and Caleb and one grandson. Joel’s hobbies include walking his dog Judah, kayaking, biking, hiking, reading, landscaping, puttering in his shop and anything associated with the beach. This is Joel’s fourth interim ministry so he’s well prepared to come and do a great job leading us into our next chapter.
